Flash Memory Essay -- essays research papers

Flash MemoryPSYCHOLOGY TERM melodic theme     Memory is the main faculty of retaining and recalling past experiences.A quash keeping, is 1 that is retained in the sub advised mind, in whichone is not aware of it only if where it can still affect both conscious thoughts, remembering, and behavior. When memory is distorted, the result can be referred towhat has been called the "False Memory Syndrome"(Thomas care Publishing1995) a condition in which a someones identity and interpersonalrelationships are entered around a memory of traumatic experience which isplain false but the person strongly entrusts that it isnt. How incessantly, thesyndrome is not only characterized by false memories alone. We all occupymemories that are inaccurate. Instead, the syndrome whitethorn be diagnosed when thememory is so severely disoriented that it changes the individuals entirepersonality and lifestyle, therefore, disrupting all sorts of classer(a) behaviors. The means of personality disorder is on purpose. False memory syndrome isespecially destructive because the person carefully avoids any confrontationwhat so ever with any evidence that might challenge the memory. So thissyndrome takes on a life of its own, keeping itself to be alone and resistantto correction. The person may become so focused on the memory that he or shemay be effectively distracted from coping with real problems in his or her life.     There are many models which try to explain how memory works.Nevertheless, we do not know exactly how memory works. One of the nearquestionable models of memory is the one which assumes that every experience aperson has had is "recorded" in memory and that, "some of these memories arefrom traumatic events in addition terrible to want to remember"(Thomas BillingsPublishing 1995). . These terrible memories are locked by in the sub consciousmind, (i.e. repressed, only to be remembered in adulthood when some triggeringevent opens the door to the unconscious). Both before and after the repressedmemory is remembered, it causes physical and mental disorders in a person.     Some stack have made an effort to explain their pain. Even Cancer, wasknown to form in some through repressed memories of incest in the body.Scientists have examine related phenomenon such as people wh... ...he victim had been shown, there is no way of knowing whether the victim isremembering the assailant or the picture.      other interesting fact roughly memory is that studies have shown thatthere is no connection between the result feeling a person has about memory andthat memory being accurate. Also, opposed to what many believe, hypnosis doesnot charge memorys accuracy because subjects are unconscience while underhypnosis.(Copeland Publishing 1989) It is possible to make believe false memories inpeoples minds by suggestion.     Why would someo ne remember something so horrible if it really did nothappen? This is a haunting question, but there are several possibleexplanations which might shed fairylike on some of the false memories. Apseudomemory, for example, may be a kind of symbolic expression of troubledfamily relationships. It may be that in such a position people more readilybelieve things happened when they didnt. When people enter therapy, they do soto get better. They want to change. plenty also tend to look for someexplanation for why they have a problem. Victims come to trust the person theyhave chosen to back up them.
